In the early 1970's, Lucinda Howard worked in computer programming. However, after many years of computers, she soon realized she needed to make a change in order to combat boredom. It was while she was assisting a friend with a 1930's Dodge interior that she had found her calling.
In 1979, she started her upholstery business "The Tin Lizzie Affair" to satisfy her love for automobiles. Ahead would be years of devotion and hard labor.
She is self-taught, meticulous, conscientious, and hard driving. Every customer's automobile is treated as though it were her own, making each completed job better than factory. Attention to detail, customer satisfaction, and talented employees constitute the success of The Tin Lizzie Affair and how they have been in business for 40+ years.
For the older client the name Tin Lizzie would be associated with the nickname of Henry Ford's "Model T." For the younger client, Tin Lizzie is for Thin Lizzie, the rock group.
Tin Lizzie automobiles were some of the first cars Lucinda ever worked on. She saw what a love affair their owners carried on with their cars, hence the name "Tin Lizzie Affair" was born.
Young or old, the company name seems to be one remembered.
In 2024, Lucinda celebrated 45 years in business and her 75th birthday with a brand new, PINK Snap-on toolbox! Thank you to all of our loyal customers for helping us celebrate 45 years in business and many more to come!
